Rev. Kelly E. & Connie McClelland began serving in the missions fields of Indonesia in 1988 when they founded Sowers International, Inc., focusing on reaching Indonesia for Jesus. Indonesia is not only the largest Moslem nation in the world, but also contains the world’s fourth largest population and ranks second in having the most unreached people groups (those sharing the same language and culture).
Kelly & Connie focused their ministry towards these unreached people groups on the island of Sumatra, which is roughly the same size as California. While in Sumatra, the McClellands were instructors at Harvest International Theological Seminary and through their ministry were an integral force behind establishing the South Sumatra WorldReach Center which focuses on training Indonesian workers for the harvest of these lost souls. They continued to work in Sumatra, planting churches, training workers, and winning souls for Christ until returning to the states in the spring of 2004.
In May, 2004, the McClellands joined PIONEERS, one of the fastest growing mission agencies in the world and one that works only among unreached people groups. Kelly & Connie work as Church Partnership Coordinators and focus on helping churches that want to become more involved in mission outreach. Part of their duties include working with churches that have sent missionaries to PIONEERS and organizing short term trips overseas to the fields where their church members serve. Five times a year, Kelly & Connie help train and equip new missionaries prior to their field assignments as well as keeping their churches up to date on their progress.
The McClellands continue to monitor the ministry going on in Sumatra from the states as well.
